The Safe and Sound Protocol was developed by Stephen Porges who created the Polyvagal Theory to help understand how our nervous systems work. and how our nervous system influences our relationships. The Safe and Sound Protocol is an active listening therapy; the client listens to specially formulated music. This is to be done in conjunction with counseling services. I can provide the SSP to my clients and those who see another professional.
The SSP is beneficial for a wide range of issues. These include ADHD, anger, anxiety, fear, attachment, sleep, stress, trauma, and more.
The specially filtered music acts as an acoustic vagal nerve stimulator, helping to shift the nervous system out of a chronic state of defense and vigilance and into a calm state where healthy social engagement can occur.
